The Well

Friday night I played at The Well in Five Points on Glenwood Ave. in

Raleigh. I was invited to play by Zak Domogalla
(www.myspace.com/zakdomogalla) with whom I travelled to Nashville, TN
last weekend for the Deep South Best of NC Showcase.

The gentlemen from Mr. Domogalla’s band were kind enough to play along
with me for many of my songs. It was an invigorating experience for
me, and I look forward to playing with them in the future.

3rd & Lindsley

On Monday night I played the Deep South Best of NC Showcase at 3rd &
Lindsley in Nashville, TN. I rented an Impala and drove 3 of my fellow
musicians—Th’ Bullfrog Willard McGhee, Crystal Dawn Baker, and Zak
Domogalla—over the river and through the woods to Nashville.

I am sincerely impressed with the trunk size of that car. Four guitars
and our luggage fit comfortably inside it.

Sunday was a beautiful day to drive. Monday was a gray day… and
covered the impala with a “wintery mix” as we were driving around town
in search of an open vintage clothing store.

Everyone who performed that night was fantastic. I was especially
moved by the new song that The Chris Hendricks Band played. I can’t
recall the title of it.

Even though the weather and the night of the week made for low turnout
from the locals, I sincerely enjoyed performing for those who were
there. The crowd was attentive, as were the server and the bartender.
The venue was nice, as well.

After the show, Bullfrog, Crystal, Crystal’s Mom, Zak, Amy Cox, the
members of the Jason Adamo Band and I all went down to Broadway St. to
hear some live music and see some neon lights.

Tuesday’s weather got increasingly better as the drive progressed. The
snow-capped Appalachians were breathtakingly beautiful. It’s too bad
my attention was divided by my need to focus on the road.

I am glad I went. I met some fantastic musicians, and I think the
relationships I’m building with them will bring opportunities to
create and perform more and better music in the Raleigh area.

Deep SouthI played an Open Mic Competition at Deep South, The Bar on Tuesday. I won the opportunity to play in a Nashville Showcase in February.

I’m going to go.

I live here in Raleigh, NC, now… and I’m going to take these Tuesday nights and use them to play and meet people.

No grand plan. Just live honestly and play.

Ecolution & Medici

On Saturday, I performed at Ecolution 2010 in Tampa, FL. It was good times. They gave me a Bandyard, and I bought a T-Shirt, and the vendors loved my music.

I played a little early, so there weren’t many patrons around. But, my folk rock echoed off condo buildings 2 blocks away. Good afternoon, Tampa!

The following day, I played a last minute gig at Medici Cigar Bar in Oveido, FL. Although the order of events was immediately unclear, things fell into place when Craig and I got up to the mic. We received some sound engineering assistance, and were able to use the equipment that the band performing before us had set up.

I am thankful we got the opportunity to play, and that Aaron helped us sound as good as we could up on the dark balcony above the bar. It was a really neat place, but seriously, get a light bulb up there.

Playing this regularly is fun, and seems natural, even though it is a rare occourance for me. It is still true that performing my original music feels like the thing I’m meant to do, and what is most beneficial to all.

So, I shall keep moving forward. Keep recording. Keep playing. I’ll get there.
